Gilbert Chan, M.D., is a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon. Dr. Chan earned his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, and completed a general orthopaedic surgery residency at Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City, Philippines. Dr. Chan then completed fellowships in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul, Minn., The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del.

Dr. Chan offers a full range of pediatric orthopaedic care for children but has special interests in neuromuscular diseases, pediatric foot conditions and spinal deformities. Dr. Chan developed an interest in pediatric orthopaedics after treating his first club foot; he knew by helping children he could make a difference. This led to his journey to seek answers to various conditions that affect children, sparking an interest in orthopaedic research.

Away from the office Dr. Chan enjoys spending time with his family and being involved in his children’s interests. He also enjoys cooking and grilling for his wife and kids – his biggest fans. He has an interest in traveling, especially exploring other cultures and understanding their history. He has a positive outlook on life and believes that ultimately things do get better.
