Youth Philanthropy

Kids for Kids is a service learning initiative that provides the opportunity for elementary, middle school, high school and college students to participate in fundraising projects to support Kosair Children’s Hospital. Participants learn how rewarding it is to contribute to the local community and have fun helping other kids just like themselves!
We offer a variety of programs and ideas that we can customize to fit your school or organization. A representative from the Children’s Hospital Foundation will discuss your project ideas and, in most cases, can provide the following resources to help promote your efforts:
- Pledge envelopes
- Online fundraising Web page, initial set-up and troubleshooting
- Kids for Kids stickers or buttons (limit one per student and faculty member)
- "Just for Kids" balloon cutouts
- Prizes and recognition
If you would like more information for your school, PTA, club, athletic team or other group, contact Natalie Gupton at (502) 629-5238.
"Just for Kids" Service Learning Project
Through the Children's Hospital Foundation "Just for Kids" Service Learning Project, students have fun while learning what it means to give back and how to keep themselves healthy. The project is a structured program for schools that provides fun and easy ways for students, teachers, parents and staff to get involved in activities to make a difference in the lives of thousands of children in our community each year. We are currently accepting new schools to this program.
Classroom materials are appropriate for kindergarten through fourth grade, but the entire school is encouraged to participate. Each participating school has the flexibility to choose the length of the program and which topics are covered:
- Healthy eating
- Exercise
- Environmental awareness
- Street/bike safety
Each participating class receives a "Just for Kids" Kit. Each kit contains all of the supplies needed to run the program, so teachers don't have to do any extra work!
No minimum amount of fundraising is necessary, but a goal of $25 per student is encouraged. Prizes are available for individuals, teachers and classes who reach certain goals. Some examples of prizes are T-shirts, books, gift cards, tote bags and classroom parties.
If you are interested in learning more about the "Just for Kids" Service Learning Program or if you would like your school to participate, contact Natalie Gupton at (502) 629-5238.

Members are expected to commit to attend meetings once a month during the school year. These meetings are primarily held on Sunday afternoons. Members are also strongly encouraged to volunteer at events throughout the year.

Dance marathons
The University of Louisville Dance Marathon, presented by Chili's Grill & Bar, raises funds for Kosair Children's Hospital. Students obtain pledges to stay up overnight dancing and playing games. Area Chili's restaurants help promote the event by selling "Just for Kids" balloon cutouts in their restaurants for five weeks leading up to the event. For more information about this event, visit ULDM.org.

Party for a Good Cause
Instead of presents at your next birthday party or other gift-giving celebration, ask friends and family to give donations to Kosair Children's Hospital. Prior to your event, the Children's Hospital Foundation can help you set up a personalized online fundraising page for the occasion. Donations can be designated for a specific part of the hospital or simply to the area of greatest need.
For those who prefer to donate items, please consult our current wish list. All items must be new and unwrapped. Opportunities to present your gift at Kosair Children's Hospital are available upon request.
